Gary and Nancy Link have been providing dog training classes and information in Placer County for over thirty years. Their background contains an amazing variety of dog related activities. Starting out at the venerable Marin County Dog Training Club, Gary and Nancy both completed a three year apprenticeship program. This program required that a dog trainer first train his or her own dog to a competition level before even apprenticing. The Links moved to Truckee to compete in sled dog racing and raced Dalmatians and Walker Coonhounds all over the West. In 1972 they moved to Meadow Vista and started obedience classes there. They took over the 4-H dog training program and became County wide leaders in Dog Care, and Guide Dog Puppies. They have maintained group dog training classes in Meadow Vista, Newcastle, Auburn Parks and Recreation Department. Many people remember the Links from training with them in the old fruit sheds in Newcastle. Always interested in new methods of teaching and learning, Gary and Nancy have devised a method of working with people that is fun for dog and owner.
Currently, Gary and Nancy are showing their Australian Shepherds in Conformation, Obedience and Herding. They are both licensed obedience judges with United Kennel Club and the Australian Shepherd Club of America.
